Regine David’s 『求めてもらえなくて、求められて、求めて』 (To Desire、To Be Desired) is an intimate study of longing in its most quiet form.
Blurring the line between documentation and confession, the Manila-born, Tokyo-based photographer constructs a fragmented account of desire from the female perspective: one that moves between wanting, being wanted, and the quiet absences in between.
The work combines diaristic text with cinematic imagery: bodies in varying states of disarm, caught in transitional spaces. Across love hotels, bathrooms, and fleeting moments, the photographs explore the fragile edges between fantasy and reality that exist in image-making, where performance and genuine intimacy become indistinguishable. These scenes are layered against fragments pulled directly from David’s journals, threading a narrative that slips between what is deeply personal and what feels strangely distant.
